Is the 328is zf the same as the m3 zf tranny?

Basically having an m52 with the tranny and driveshaft it can all be bolted in using the stock e30 cross member right?

Yes trans are the same in both cars but not the drive shafts. If I remember correctly they have different number of bolts on the rear side.

I remember someone could not use the M3 drive shaft he acquired but I could be wrong.

the 95 and maybe early 96 m3 had a 6 bolt flange where it bolts to the diff. the trannys are identical.

328iS and M3(Late Model) have the same trans. Only the early M3s had the 6 bolt flange. So 97-99 328iS/M3 with ZF trans all have 4 bolt diff flange.

Minor difference, but didn't 95 m3's have ZF310's and 96-99 M3 have ZF320's? Same from outside just a little bit more stout? I seem to recall the 328's having 310's along with some late e34's but maybe someone knows for sure

Yeah, 95 M3s had ZF310s, as did the non-Vanos E34. Same length and everything, not sure on the internals. 328s had 320s.
