Just installed A/C and got it working perfectly...

But now sometimes the fan speed only works on the 4 setting and not 1, 2, & 3. And then sometimes it will work on all of them, all the while the a/c is still cold and works fine.

Is the blower in the dash going bad? Then how could it work on 4?

    Thanks

    Wade

The blower resistor pack is going/gone. It works on speed 4 because there are no resistors for speed 4-- it is a direct powered connection. It's located on the blower motor. Easy, cheap fix. Good to hear you have solid A/C. I'm thinking about it on my swap considering how hot it has been so far this year.

Hey what exactly do you mean by perfectly running? Have you solved the idle issue?

would you mind posting the details of your AC setup with some photos.

Remove the coil pack from the blower motor. You can get to it from the engine bay firewall. Take it out, resurface the contacts of the pack and reinstall.

The AC idle is easy. I ran a wire to the X20 end of my adapter.

How do you mean? Just add more solder to the contacts?

Sorry I'm a bit thick when it comes to wiring, but where is the wire coming from? I mean you ran the wire to the X20 end but where is the other end of the wire hooked up?

What idle issue are you guys speaking of. When my A/C is on my idle is fine, im pretty sure.

There's a compressor-on signal to the DME that bumps the idle up.

When you don't have the a/c wired up the idle is lower than what it should be when engaged. No I haven't wired it up yet but I will, from what I hear it is easy.

I have heard with having these motors in the car the blower resistor is really hard to get to, you have to go in through the engine bay firewall side right? Remove wiring harness covers and that back rubber wall area?

                        Thanks!

I will post pix if it helps others, I just used those a/c adapters from the diy a/c thread and used my stock lines, aux fan and condensor, bought a new dryer and some r134A o-rings changed on the engine side and it blows ice cold. I did have to acquire two low side e30 lines because you have to cut off the firewall side of one of them and weld it onto the compressor side.

To a connector that pops out right next to the ECU. While you're running it, run a wire in to the center console for your reverse lights.

My plan is to have a local shop that does custom stuff on muscle cars/restos tackle custom lines. Eventually will need A/C...

do you have pics of the cut pieces an welded back on the compressor? i just went to the junk yard today and got all the stock e30 lines i needed an a condenser, i still need a 24V compressor and bracket, i did know there was some fab needed for this just dont know what i will need to make the 24V comp work with e30 lines

pics please of were the ends you cut came from and how they look on the comp would really appreciate this, its gettin balls hot here
