Hi, I'm doing a M54B30 into an E30 swap, using a M50 non vanos loom, I'm told the single sensor on the M54 head with 4 wires can be fed to the 2 separate plugs on the M50 loom. Is this right, and which wires are joined to which. The M54 has grey/brown, brown/yellow, brown/red, and brown/violet. The M50 has brown, brown/violet on one, and brown, brown/red on the other. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Mmmmm, Joined the E30 race series over here, and a couple of forums at the same time, but have just got into the M54 conversion, got some parts from Hovering guy to help, just need to sort out this wiring. Hope to do a write up at some point to help others. I'm doing a conversion removing the vanos completely and using a non vanos computer. Should have it running in a few weeks.

Yes, our rules allow it, but I've worked on the premise that simplest is best. Have locked the cams but have plenty of adjustment in the intake side, and by using the early M50 loom and computer everything's plug and play. Have gone so far as to use the m50 rocker cover and have made a front cam cover as well.
I've been told by a couple of engine builders to utilise the torque of the M54 and not try to rev it too high. Am putting a M3 6 speed behind it,
