how to ship an engine from europe?

hey, i've been looking into the possibility of shipping an engine from europe but other than ebay.co.uk/.de, i really dont know where to begin.

does anyone have a tips that would help me out? or even better, anyone in europe (preferably someone on the euro for the exchange rate) willing to find and ship an engine?

    thanks.

im looking for the s50b32. (i think thats the name for what i've seen) basically the 3.2L dual vanos OBD2 316bhp monster that out performs the stoked m52 american m3 engine in every way.

also, when i buy this and convert it to OBD1, will i be able to use US m/s5x parts?

also also, i was asking more of how to "check out" an engine 4k miles away. like what to look for and what legal stuff im going to have to worry about when i import it.

How are you going to convert it to OBD I and run the dual vanos?

You need to keep the OBDII DME and get it reflashed to delete the EWS.

EDIT: Check out this thread: the sonnyq guy is trying to get a group buy of sorts together for importing euro engines into the country.

S50b32 is NOT OBD2, no need to convert it.

correct me if im wrong, but it was my understanding that the US had the s50b30 which was a stroked m50 OBD1 240hp engine, and the s52b32 which added .2L in the head to make up for the loss in performance when changed to OBD2 this also produced 240hp.

in europe i know the m3 engines are completely different from the regular 3 series engines. i thought the designations were the same, but after searching ebay.co.uk i saw s50b30 and s50b32. i assumed that the b32 was what we call the s52. but then i just saw a listing for an s52 engine there.

from what i've read s54 is REALLY expensive, so thats out.

adrian, since the engine management is in the DME, swapping OBD2->OBD1 would effectively convert it to single vanos, right? i guess i had been thinking it was a mechanically operated system, but i guess i was wrong.

wow, i have alot more reading to do before i jump into this.

                          Designations

Check out BFC in the euro section.

In the stickied section, many of your questions will be answered. We have a very robust forum specializing on the euro motors.

S50B3X will ALWAYS look more appropriate in your E30 IMHO, but the S54 will ultimately outperform the S50B32.

I'm hoping that sometime this summer I can do back to back runs with SEM management on a stock S50B32 vs a stock S54 and see just how large the gap is.

While its true that the S54 only out-paces the B32 by a few hp and ftlb in stock trim with factory dme, I suspect that there is a larger gap when you go to SEM.

No, only North America received an S52 (240hp). The listing must have been made in error.

When you install an S50B32, you don't need to change the DME. You use the DME it came with. European cars don't have OBD-I or -II, as OBD is a US standard.

Stuff is starting to make sense, but just to clarify, the s50b32euro is still going to be dual vanos right?

and how do i find the euro section on bfc? (thats bimmerforums.com right?) i found the euro regional section, but didnt find any info.
