        Not trying to confuse things, but OBD-II became standard in Europe around 2000, some manuf. had them earlier (MB in 97 I recall).

        I've bought from and met this German Ebay guy in person, here's an S54 about 40th. miles for about 4600 US http://cgi.ebay.de/BMW-M3-E46-Motor-...item5d29314018 also offering an S14 and tons of parts.
