    Broken slave cylinder?

Was putting my slave cylinder in today. Which was a pita, but I put some fluid in when I was done. I was pumping the petal trying to get some pressure. After a couple minutes I heard a pop and fluid was coming out of the bottom Of the tranny.

So now I don't know why it broke? Maybe my clutch lever arm wasn't going forward and it built up to much pressure?

Now im thinking maybe there was still plenty of air in the line. I only cracked the bleeder once until fluid stated coming out. Maybe excess air built up and popped a seal. Also whenever i put a slave cylinder in be for it was always hard to push over the studs cuz the rod was pushing back. This time it seemed to slide on without much of any push back.
I didnt take it back off yet so i dont know. its frustrating, to not kow why it happened. I dont want another to break.

I wonder if it was seated in the lever arm correctly. Did you remove the trans, or just pull the slave cylinder out to replace it? Did you remove the slave cylinder yet? Is the rod still attached?

pull it off. if the rod is missing have fun taking the gearbox off the car to get the slave bits out.

you have to be very careful making sure you put it on perfectly straight.

I was just finished putting my m52 in the car and was hooking the slave cylinder up. That's what I'm afraid of I don't want to have to take the transmission off. I haven't taken it back off to see what happened I was pissed last night and didn't feel like dealing with it anymore.

Well I took the slave out and it was broken. The rod and this rubber seal like thing were still close enough to grap through the hole. Is there any other pieces? And if something was still in there would it cause damage? Or could it just rest on the bottom of the bell housing.

Sounds like the slave wasn't in there right and the rod and whatnot popped out. I don't think you'll need to remove the tranny though...

there's also a metal locking plate that goes on top of the rubber seal. same thing happened to me. I ended up buying a magnet on a flexible shaft to fish everything out.

Might try that. Say I can't get it out, would this locking plate really cause any damage to 35+ pounds of spinning mass?

Got a new slave cylinder and bleeding it before I put it back in. And it doesn't seem to operate right. I bleed it and just fluid comes out so I think it would be set. But once I pump the petal there's still nothing there. And the the rubber piece around the rod ballons up like it's getting filled with and about to pop.
Now why is that filling up like that?
