the ultimate argument is simply to say that to put a Chevrolet engine in a bmw is cheesy cop out. seriously....an american v8 with the same architecture designed for the 1957 model year in your european sports car? will it be faster? yes, it probably will. however, when you open your hood, you will look like a pole smoking ass 'tard. if you want a street rod, wouldn't you be better off buying a 39 merc and using another forum? or to put it another way, compare it to one of those pimply faced, skinny, spikey haired asian kids with the souped up honda and the muffler made from a polished coffee can pumping out 96 raspy decibels of ear sewage. simply put, (i am sorry to say) its GAY! wait.....let me think about it some more..........................still gay. sacrilegious, stupid, and gay. oh, by the way, i don't mean to be an ass to you but you have to expect some abuse when you post something like this in the 24v swap section. still gay though. you see, 95% of us are purists. we(luis, dominic and others) feel that an engine doesn't belong in a bmw unless its a bmw. more power from the chevy? ok, anyone can win that arguement. weight distribution? handling? it will suck. the purpose of being a enthusiast of european sportscars is the fact that they will handle. why do you think we all love e30 m3's? is it because they have dinky little naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engines pumping out a whopping 200 hp? um....no

Actually, the LS1 is aluminum and a pushrod motor, which means it is light, compact, and shorter than the iron S5x putting less of the weight over the front axle. Most of the added mass in the LS1 swap IIRC is in the T56 which is much much beefier than our ZF320s or G260s (because it has to be), but is also much closer to the center of the car.

And dude, you're not a villain. Nobody wants to read your no-paragraph monologues, that could have been said in two sentences.

That's what happens when you put an LS1 in an E30 and keep the stock 4-turn steering rack.

OP: you may have misunderstood the gist of my post. Are you an experienced fabricator?

          you're a fucking idiot

The GM LS engine is a new engine design intended as the only V-8 engine utilized in General Motors' line of rear-wheel-drive cars and trucks. The LS series was a clean sheet design with little in common with the classic Chevrolet small block V8. Some LS engines are all-aluminium, especially the performance oriented engines, while others are cast iron, and all LS engines have 6-bolt main bearing caps.

No, and I understood your post :)

I like to take on challenges, I learn from experience, and i'm a pretty quick learner. I also have some friends in the SAE programs at FSU and UCF and can always turn to them for a little help.

I'm sorry? I don't remember ever meeting you, or giving you enough information about me to make that kind of determination. Did I miss something?

Either choice would have the same chance of running, its juts a matter of actually working on the project. The only reason a BMW 6 has a higher chance is because I've already bought parts for it

                      I think an LS1 E30 is badass.

Is it for me? I doubt it.
Is it for some people. Absolutely.
                      Is it impressive? Yes.

you didn't so much as offend my taste, as you posted a stupid, incomprehensible rant lacking the most basic of facts.

thankfully, you don't get to decide what "belongs" in an e30.

we're not talking about an m3...BMW made over 2.3 million fucking e30's

But the e30 is the golden child! With its toasted subframe bushings, broken odometers, and cracked dashboards. 12V or go home.
