    Vibration at idle

OK, so, I have the AKG engine mounts and trans mounts, and needless to say, that communicates quite a lot of vibration at idle into the cabin. To complicate things, I'm running a mechanical fan, so the engine needs to not wander forward.

If I swap in softish (say, 320i) transmission mounts to cut down on the vibration/noise, will my fan be introduced to my radiator?

I've raised the idle to 1,000, which largely solves the problem, but I would rather have the freedom to run it lower (and not have the car vibrate on the occasions that my revs drop a bit lower).

No, with the solid engine mounts your fan shouldnt find its way into your rad. The solid trans mounts do throw a shit ton more vibration and resonant noise into the cabin.

What you could do is run the e21 transmission mounts with reinforcement cups to prevent the mounts from sliding forward (stretching) under hard braking. Its fairly easy to make your own cups or purchase them from AKG. Pretty sure they sell the whole kit all together for the transmission. That should reduce some vibration, not all.

You didn't answer his question. Read the bold again.

^^^^ Ummmm..... yeah..... I did. Mebbe you should try reading what I posted. I said no, it shouldnt find its way into the rad. How do I know...because I am running stock m20 trans mounts with solid engine mounts on my m50tu swap and have had zero issues with this. So with his SOLID ENGINE MOUNTS, he should have no issues with softer trans mounts. I guess I was expecting him to understand that so long as he keeps the solid engine mounts....which is what he stated he was planning on doing....... he would be fine.

            WAR chip. :)

Chased my tail with it for a while, but the guys at Miller finally tracked down a bug that was causing a CEL. Now, it's fully awesome.

Finally got off my ass and swapped out the trans mounts for the 320i version.

Vibration is vastly improved and cabin noise decreased across the board. I still have more than I would like coming in from the engine bay, but I can live with this.
