    S/C my s52 swapped E30

Hey, i was wondering if anyone had S/C their s52 swapped E30. If so would anyone be able to point me in the direction of a kit because i have no clue if the ones i am looking at would fit in the engine bay. Thanx for the help.

I have Active Autowerkes Stage 2 kit on my e30, with a smaller (higher boost) pulley. Most of the kit is applicable to the e30 chassis, just expect to have to fabricate all the charge and intake piping from scratch.

Puts down over 400whp, hoping to eek out a little bit more with some rework on the charge pipes to optimize velocity.

Wow such a clean engine bay. Me likes! I see you managed to keep the clutch fan. How? aren't you worried about smashing your rad?

How much did you drop on the s/c setup if you don't mind me asking?

          Heres mine.

Total price to this point is about 3700 dollars. I went behind AA's back and got a tune from another company. Right now I am at around 350whp, but there is plenty more power to be had.

It is a e36 318i fan and clutch. I machined down the clutch on the backside to get the fan to sit about centered between the radiator and the vanos unit. It is a very tight fit, but no contact issues so far.

I only run the fan during the summer when I intend to use the R12 AC to keep the car cool. Even with a whoop ass 16" Spal pusher it still needs a clutch fan to keep the temps in check.

I paid about $3k for the entire setup.

I'm not 100% on this, but I think it is 74mm diameter. AA no longer sells it because at redline it does overspin the blower. While its not of any real concern, it does void the warranty on the blower from Rotrex so... If you put a smaller pulley on you will need to come up with a means of cooling the charge air, and get a new tune to get it running well.

thank you for all the input. So is the general consensus that i would have to fabricate all the charge and intake piping from scratch?

Supercharging is a tease. Go turbo.

Grab a manifold from Blunt. I have turbos, BOVs, wastegates, etc. Then I can send a plug and play tune for up to 600whp.

Not necessarily. I made mine work with all the components from the kit that AA offers. Its a tight squeeze, but easily doable.

Oh well thats good to know because i was looking at the AA kit.

And oh really, how much would the kit for the turbo be cause i am pretty sure it would cost less for me to S/C it. Plus, i have had turbo cars before and i don't really like the lag before boost.

Are you using AA's stage 2 front mount and the associated piping like I am? Because I don't see any way in hell you made all that work without cutting it all up. Yours looks like a non-intercooled stage 1 as far as I can see, and if so.. yeah I can see those pipes working.

Damn, you are gonna slaughter my word like that?

Maybe I simply put the car together better than you.

                        Intercooler proof is here.

                        Or how about this

Please dont cut apart what I say, when in all actuality, I have touched and built my car, and you have simply heard about it on the internet.

Yeah, don't see why you are getting all defensive. That's not AA's front mount intercooler, it looks like some OE Saab unit, and neither is all that piping doing to/from it. A bunch of off bits of elbows and silicone couplers cobbled together that look like excessive failure points.

Here is a complete AA Stage II C38 Rotrex kit, with the piping as supplied from AA.

I'm not trying to start a fight with you, but seriously? Your car honestly looks very thrown together. I sincerely don't think you know who you are talking to, but that's just fine... The whole point I was making for the original poster was that most of the AA supplied piping for use on a e36 would not work on a e30. Not who's installation is cleaner and better put together.

so an extra 2.5psi almost levels the field for hp but not torque eh? Jeez considering the difference in price between the two motors that is kind of humbling. I think the power bug has bitten me I want to turbo or S/C the s52 as as soon as I can afford it.
