    m50tu to s52 swap...

I have a m50tu and its a little weak. Question: How much can I use to build a OBD1 s52. Can I swap over all my manifolds and accessories and run it with a 413ecu? Seems like with a good m50tu donor all I might need is a head and block. Starts a list of things I cant use. copy and paste so each post has the total list.

Only thing you'd need is a chip in the DME for an S52, it won't be optimized with the M50 chip in the DME.

so a s52 block and head and a tune and I'd have everything to rock'kn'roll? Everythiing on my m50 will bolt to the new block?

Aren't all the 24v heads swapable between the m/s50 and 52's? So really if he found a good block he could just put his head on that?

The casting, valves, and split collets are identical from M50TU, M52, S50US, and S52. The innards are slightly different, meaning the lower and upper spring plates, the springs, cam trays and cams, and lifters vary depending on the head.

The cams are very different profiles. That's where most of the top end power comes from. The extra displacement from the increased stroke and bore is where most of the bottom end power comes from.

I was kinda curious about that statement in your FS thread, but didn't want to thread crap. Most s52's in e30's (OBD-I) are putting down 230ish peak, and 20-30whp more anywhere else on the graph then what your dyno showed. Just curious how you came up with the "it will blow away any S52 swapped car" statement. Did you run an s52 car? I'm not ragging on you at all, just curious. I'm actually interested in your kit, I have an m50 w/ s50 cams and want to go turbo after I get my vanos issues resolved, so I'm thinking I'd make a bit more power with those cams.

The dyno #'s were on a MD which reads lower than a dynojet. As far as blowing away any S52 swapped car I never ran one. The only car I ran was my friends 2010 AMG C63 and lost by 2 cars.

Here's a thread of dyno results for the S5X

I thought about turbo because I have most of the parts already. I need a simple daily driver right now because I put 1k miles a week on my poor little e30...
