I haven't found a clear answer on this. I'm pretty sure I cannot, but can I use the DSSR from my M20 w/ G260 trans on an M50 w/ G260 trans in my E30? I never installed my DSSR, but I am considering swapping engines soon so I don't want to install the DSSR until the engine is out and whatnot. Just wondering if someone could clarify for me.

Shit, yeah I'm sorry. Double Shear Selector Rod, I thought it was a more common upgrade and ppl just knew what a DSSR was lol.

It really needs to be shortened too, on the stock shift rod you can accomplish this by just putting a bend in it I don't know about that UUC one though. If you leave it original length the shifter will be awkwardly far forward in the console

unfortunately you're probably on your own figuring out whether or not your DSSR will fit your application, I called asking for help on my swap (M52/zf320) and while they were helpful in eventually getting the right part, we had to do some trial and error to find the correct solution. Basically I got two different answers (one person said use the 189 another said the 198 ) when I called them so we basically ended up ordering two DSSR's and sending back the one that didn't work.
That being said the lesson I learned was that matching the transmission to the shift rod is your best bet so the 187 (I have a 187 for sale btw if anyone is looking to save some $$$ ;) ) should get you in the ball park. The trick is going to be if you have to bend it like the OE linkage; that might be a tough order since its a pretty heavy duty piece and made of stainless.Last edited by rpob5t; 09-12-2010, 06:53 PM.Greg 1987 325is (fairly far from stock at this point)

Fuck it, I'll just sell it and use a stock one. When I do the swap I won't have but a few days to fuck with it due to this being my only car. :???:unfortunately you're probably on your own figuring out whether or not your DSSR will fit your application, I called asking for help on my swap (M52/zf320) and while they were helpful in eventually getting the right part, we had to do some trial and error to find the correct solution. I had the 187mm DSSR lengthened to use it on an ix, it's not that hard. it's definitely a huge improvement over the stock single sheer selector rod.Comment

With any mix-and-match of non-standard drivetrain parts, the answer always will be "measure to see exactly what you need".
The answer will be different based on many factors, even including little things like which selector joint you are using... they are different depending on the year or part number.
Very often, we will have something that will work right off the shelf, but given how these swaps can use all sorts of different parts, it's still an individual process.- Rob Levinson * UUC Motorwerks * 678-679-5360 * http://www.uucmotorwerks.com * rob@shortshifter.com
