I stuck with the e30 slave cylinder with the above combination and it works fine, the pedal is about the same stiffness as with the m20 maybe a little stiffer.

Great info Rthor and Adrian. Very useful for me at this time since I am planning to go through a tranny rehaul with new seals and clutch and flywheel etc. So S50/S52 parts it is - and I am having interest in the F1 Racing clutch and JB racing flywheel.

So I am curious. If an e36 M3 (240mm) clutch can work in a getrag 260, and an M5 clutch can work in an M3 (zf tranny); doesnt that mean that an M5 clutch can work on a getrag 260 also?

so basically to be safe just use the flywheel/clutch for the transmission i'm using? What are the down sides of using my g240 out of my 318?

I've heard people on the boards suggest that since the G240 comes from the 318 it can't handle power.

We are running 300hp and 300ft lbs of torque thru our G240 for the last year without any issues to date.

with my zf tranny im using a g260 clutch, g260 throwout, zf slave, M50 flywheel

works GREAT! reason behind it is i bought a new sach clutch for the 260 when i planned to use it, then changed my mind about halfway through the swap and bought a very low KM zf320

                  We use a lightened M20 flywheel, M20 clutch & pressure plate with a G240.

The only thing we needed to change was the pilot bearing (the 240 requires a different one).

No, not really. There are tons of good combinations that work perfectly, all you have to do is a bit of research to find what suits you best.

Like I mentioned, my perfect 24v car consists of an OBD-1 S52, JB 240mm flywheel (S50/52 spec) and M3 cluch assembly with the stock mid/late E30 6-banger Getrag 260 transmission.

But can the M5 clutch work with the getrag260? I am not planning on doing it, but I am just curious.
