s50 is in....now typical ps leaks!

    so its a known e36 issue...ps leaks !..

of course it couldnt be done w/ engine sitting out of car for 20 months...lol

Any good fixes?.......get new oe hose w/ crappy crimp fittings?...

or go standard proper generic hose w/ ol skool clamps?

just wondering...I should know what to do....now but dont(yet):

swapped engines ..do most set ups use the 24v ps res?..w/ e 30 hoses/cooler tubes? or e 36/

    leaks

I have been chasing leaks as well
I retightened the bolts on the pump housing.
I also orderd new gaskets for the banjo fittings.
I think the aluminum washers get to the point where they cant be crushed any further.
I also had leaks at my chan tentioner which uses crush washers as well.

Where is the leak coming from? I recently noticed a leak myself and traced it to the top of the rack where the coupler joins the steering column, some sort of rubber/seal cap where the splined part is.

Carry an extra bottle of ATF in your trackbox and get used to a rainbow under the car.

                Welcome to swapped cars.

Yes, don't. Shit's a bandaid at best and gunks up your entire system.

My PS has had a gnarly leak for awhile (right after I did the M50 swap, new reservoir etc), I just keep topping it off, I'll deal with it when I yank the motor to put something bigger in there. I keep distilled water, oil and ATF in the car anyway. :p

delete the PS. it's going to fail at some point, hopefully not when i'm behind you on a track :)

mine has ZERO leaks! e36 rack too, original high pressure lines, new low pressure lines, new crush washers, and every line is DOUBLE hose clamped.i think this is important, before i did the double hose clamps i had a slow leak.

So BMW never had a non powersterring option? Not even on the 95 m3 lightweight? I race a 944 with non PS and it's perfect, but came only on 83' 944's. They are getting hard to find and expensive buddy just got one for his 944 turbo and paid $500 but worth every dime.

Yep. This is exactly what I did except my lines are single clamped at the reservoir. It will likely start leaking at some point because the hose clamps will lose some of their clamping force over time, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
