    Help!! Wich exhaust????

Doing an M50 swap and I can not use my stromung exhaust any more.:(
So now i run into the issue of what exhaust to run where it does not sound RICEy. M50 has 2 into 1 headders and was wondering if anyone can guide me on what should i get.
Would an OEM e36 exhaust fit?
Sould i just go to the muffler shop and have them custom make one?
    what is everyone else running?
    Thanx!!!

Jose I run a all E36 M3 setup obd2 headers, midpipes and rear box, drop it off at exhaust shop and tell the to make it work, if they are good it should be no problem. I like mine because it is nice and quite, I have the E36 M3 if I want to make noise though. Best of luck with your swap, wish I could have helped but unfortunatly opening a legitimate shop takes a good deal of time.

If you do get a custom one. I'd do a single 3" with a cat, res or center muffler and then your muffler of choice. usually no rasp, and not obnoxious. there's a borla that people use as a center muffler, I forget which one it is. nando has a thread about it, I think?

Ive seen the post M-technic-3 has about the borla, but dont know if thats the way i want to go. Would like to hear it tho!!
So if i run it with out res, or cat, will it be that much louder? M50 is not that loud to begin with...I think.

I can sell you a OBD2 midpipe and E36 catback in excellent condition for around $300 both have low miles. I have another set from a higher milage car too but I would need to remove both sets. Best bet is bimmerforums but expect to pay around what I am asking or maybe less for a higher milage or slightly beat up set.

What mods would i have to do to make it work? I just might take you up on that.

depends, if you have THR lollys then front pipes will fit, if not they need to be curved a bit. I use E36 exhaust hangers mounted to trunk floor for the catback and then I shorthened the midpipe so it isnt sticking out so much. You can rig or you can do it right. Let me know if you want them.

you can but its is a dual so either 1 to 2 or 2-2. If you are going to go with a straight pipe may as well just buy a magnaflow

If you already have the e36 exhaust then I would just take the miidpipes and the stromung exhaust to a good and local muffler shop and have them fit it. They will have to modify the pipes to clear the control arm bushings if you don't have the treehouse racing cab or something similiar. If you do choose to get the m3 exhaust, take to mind that the m3 exhaust is stainless steel so make sure the shop is capable to welding it correctly.

Road Runner over in Springfield can do some very good work. I would give them the idea you are looking at.

Eh, no cat just makes it have alot of rasp. My friend had a 95 m3, no cat, glasspack to a 1st gen borla. sounded horrible. all rasp.
having a res is personal preference, i guess. You could call it the fine tuning of your exhaust.

OK, so then, get a res, have a custom piping to the e36 cat back exhaust. Is that right?
How would this be, performance wize?

That really depends on the piling size and whether or not crush bends or mandrel bends are used. Generally, most exhaust systems that use the stock cat system and piping size mated to a catback exhaust system will have very little noticable gain. But, it will sound like a beast.
