    M50 wiring harness/slight list question

Ok, I am going to be buying this setup for my M50 swap:

    1994 M50tu b25 w/ 70k miles and formerly mated to an AT

e36 5 speed tranny with 1:1 fifth gear

e34 oil pan, new pickup, oil pan gasket, dip stick, and tube already installed

    Zionsville Lightweight Flywheel Kit

    New E28 motor mounts

    Modded E21 brake booster

    E30 driveshaft

    Wiring harness included...

All this for about 1700 bucks. I know I need an ecu and a maf and a new 88+ coolant reservoir. Is this a good deal?

Also if someone could list what else I would need to fit this into a 1987 325is that would be amazingly helpful. And one last request. For the people that have done it...how exactly do I go about fitting the wiring harness from the M50 to match my E30? Every suggestion will be helpful. Thanks in advance!

    Treehouse Racing Adapter

Supposivly it's worth it. I wouldn't know, I'm still a ways off from planning my m50 swap. Best of luck, document it if you can. :)

I would....but it is a thousand pages long and I need to know exactly what my 87 needs for it once i have the parts that I have.

the thread is confusing and of course poorly organized since it's a thread and many people talk while few have real knowledge to add...not to critisize of course because I love the thread.

Anyway, I'm buying the treehouse wiring adapter because I'm having a shop do it, and it seems like a worthwhile time saver.

I will say that (you have a 3.64 diff right?) the 1:1 fifth is probably going to be annoying. I would reccommend going to a lower gearset sometime. Make sure you have the E36 stock metal mounting arms alongside the E28 rubber mounts. I seems to remember that only the 88+ radiator will work, not the 87. CHeck that out on the 40 page thread. Otherwise, I see nothing wrong....enjoy!

                Buller,

there is someone on ultbimmer forum with an ecu for $250, I found one for 200 shipped, so i turned it down. READ THE THREAD. print it and highlight the the things you need, that's what i did. problem now is finding the performance parts for the "non" performance cars... e28 535i urethane motor mounts - can't find them anywhere (may not exist thought and don't know what cars us the same mounts).

                hope this helped alittle,

Do you have a lot of engine movement? My 535 mounts are very solid- the entire car rocks when I rev the engine.

                  i3uller:
Most people will recommend a 3.25 diff with the e36 tranny.

I'm not sure if the Treehouse adapter is worth it. There really aren't very many wires to splice, and its pretty hard to screw up if you go by www.akgmotorsport.com and the DOHC thread on this forum.

And like clutterbucker says, you will need the 88+ radiator and e36 325i coolant hoses. Its probably not a bad idea to replace all of the hoses while the motor is out of the car.

I'm sure there are a few more little things that you need, but I'm sure that they are all in the thread.

Right now the motor has TONS of movement... its on a pallet in route to Nashville... **lol**. But that's been the best answer to my mount qustion yet. :D Thanks.

I have a 413 red lable ecu that i'll sell for $200. I would definately do the wiring harness myself. I cant imagine spending $400 on that! It took me an hour, and that was using the e34 wiring harness which i had to figure a few things out with.
