Do the U-joints on the driveshaft really have to be lined up with each other?

I left my OE tailshaft bolted to the diff when I did my 5 speed swap over 30k miles ago.

Got the wrong model year CSB, so I widened it to make the holes line up (stick welder + water sprayer to keep the rubber happy).

I'll let you know when I start to see problems.

I finally found the marks and aligned them. Now the car vibrates when it's idling, but it slowly goes away and comes back lol..it's pissin me off

well vibrations at idle can't be the driveshaft, because it isn't moving when you are stopped.

I think i put too big of a spacer underneath the driverside motor mount, so i'm gonna try a smaller one

well i drove it some more and it seems like the vibrations are still there when driving, especially when i first take off, it's resonance/vibration all over the cabin.

            couple questions?

can you overtighten the bolt that holds the 2 piece of the driveshaft together?

and i also never preloaded the csb? would that have anything to do with it?

The csb didn't just slide on the d/s, i had to basically tap it on there, and it took a bit of force, is this normal?

The CSB is pressed on and ive never noticed the difference between preloading and not, ive done it here or there on my own cars and never noticed a difference. As far as aligning the DS goes, there should be factory paint marks, if theyre not there for whatever reason the Bentley describes what JGood Mentioned as a plan B...
