IM PISSED! Should I be or shouldn't i be?

    Hey guys I am the person responsible of working on this car ,the parts were inspected when I changed the rear main seal and the pilot bearing .The TOB looked good when it was out and i can only do so much checking while its out .Can't duplicate the loads that a TOB gets when its in and loaded.If there is any concerns from any of you guys please pm me .

      this thread is really long... and I don't think anyone has said it, but it could be the pilot bearing.

      Honestly, the shop wasn't getting paid to disassemble the motor, they are getting paid to install the motor and transmission, in which they did. The owner provided the parts, so the shop usually only warranties the labor, not the parts. Say if the owner bought a faulty motor and the shop still installed it into the vehicle. You wouldn't expect the shop to eat the labor bill because the motor was faulty right?

      Now, if the shop provided the motor and parts, and everything, and this happened, then you can point the finger at the shop.

      With all that being said, it sucks that the shop didn't advise you to put a new clutch in there, but the owner also assumed the shop would check it all out.
      I got a fender roller now! LMK if you need me to roll your fenders or want to rent the tool from me locally.

        I would have assumed that they would have notified you if they saw something ary, granted a dead TOB is hard to see by looking at it but none the less. I dont ever put a trans together with a used TOB unless its on my own car where i dont mind having to pull the trans in a few months and i advise my customers of this. TOB, pivot pin, RSM, PB, etc are all replaced on any swap i do, included in the labor bill.

        Just my two cents. But if they did pull the trans apart to replace stuff and didnt mention replacing the TOB to you and you didnt say anything to them then thats theoretically not their fault, just not good business IMO.

        On another note i need your OBD2 harness and ECU. Call me

          Thought - Wouldn't a TOB make noise when pressing the clutch even with the engine off?

              i've never had a bmw TOB NOT make any noises.. live with it. drive it. enjoy it!

              if its whining, the its probably not your TOB and likely your pilot bearing in which case, you either live with it or pay them to change it becuase its a part YOU provided. Nobody will guanrantee something they didnt sell.

              I say drive it, the noise may go away... cars are like woman, if ignored problems go away after only a short while.
