Is this for only certain motor/trans combos, or all 24v swaps in general?

Its when you use a stock unshaved single mass with an E34 M50 oil pan for your 24V swap.

I have the starter like the one on the right from your picture. THe 2 power wires are connected, so do I just need to find the black and yellow wire on the e36 harness and hook that up....or are there two wires that I am missing?

I think i've figured it out. My windows still work so my eta (5/84 build) doesnt need a ground for the unloader relay....only a 12v signal from the ignition so I need to find the yellow and black wire from the e36 harness and connect it to the eta starter. correct?

Reg bolts just use a configuration of extensions and universals to get it. Don't know the combo, but I just string it together whenever I'm down there and it's pretty easy.

I didn't do anything hard for the starter bolts. I just cranked it off like the other bolts and let the nuts fall and just scoop them up after. To get them back on slip a flare nut crow foot socket on the nut and crank as you would the other bolts. If you know what the socket looks like you can imagine how the part that sticks out will lock the nut in place while you tighten the bolt. Only thing that sucks was the socket set was like $80 at sears but if you ever work on brake lines you realize how those flare nut sockets are worth every penny with a quickness.

Shaving the oil pan is a bad way to go, i'm talking from my own experience here.

I shaved my oil pan to the point where i could use short bolts for the middle two bolts, clearance is fine, but bolts are not reachable with the flywheel on. I've got a pan gasket leak now and cannot reach the bolts behind the flywheel to drop the pan. Everythings coming back out so i can do it the right way and shave my flywheel.

Remember, do it right or do it again :D

ive already got my e34 oil pan on the engine and it seems to fit fine. Is it when the tranny bolts to the engine that the problem comes up?

If you bolt a single-mass m20 flywheel to the crank, it will then interfere with the oil pan.

o ok but if your using the getrag 250 out of a e36 with the stock e36 flywheel you wont have a problem?

I'd venture an educated guess that any 24v flywheel will fit the E34 pan without modification. All I can guarantee is 96-99 M3 Flywheel fits without any modifications, and stock E34 flywheel would probabl work as well ;)

yup, any stock flywheel from a 24v engine will work w/o mods, thats how mine is
