The amount of weight you remove is not the important factor in getting the flywheel to fit. You just need to make sure you have that chunk of steel on the backside of the flywheel machined off. Once that material is removed anything else is just optional.

This thread only applies to the single mass flywheel. You cannot really machine down a dual mass flywheel.

It doesnt cost $100 It will more than likely cos $40 and least thats what I paied. I didnt have to be balence mine. Your removing an equal amount of material all the way areound.

Mines pretty Much like the pic above but I dint make it concave. I just made it all flat in the back.

Depends where you live I guess.I was quoted $50 for removal of material and $50 for balancing.no offense but you are crazy not to balance your flywheel, considering the consequences if its out of balance.

Ya my machine shop said it would be fine because I didn't take off enough. Just made it flat to the ring gear its fine been driving it daily since I did the swap two years ago. They just told me it would be a waste of money. I trusted them and they were right.

They do a lot of high revving circle track motors and shit. So I trusted then to do quality work.

I agree. I would never machine down a flywheel and not have it balanced.
