    my custom 24v intake set-up

Couldn't find a kit offered that looked good enough to buy, so i fabricated my own.

    I used:
3" 90* elbow cut to size and two holes were drilled underneath to provide vacuum for the ICV and valve cover vent. This mounts to the MAF just like the stock intake boot.

6" of straight 3" silicone. Mounts between the MAF and the air filter.

K&N cone filter with a 3.5" base to clear the ABS pump.

Used a nice sign i had laying around (aluminum alloy sheet metal) to make a heat shield to bring intake temps down.

Left high beam was also removed and a black 6" inlet/3" outlet velocity stack is on its way to direct air into the "intake box". (Will be mounted in the high beam carrier.

Will update when it gets here.

P.S. all the shining dots in the first picture are shreds from the retro-reflective decal on the sign due to 10+ test fits before it was painted.

That's gonna be a bitch to clean.

Looks good otherwise. I have to do something like this to the M3. Is the ABS pump still in the stock location?

It's a little difficult to remove the filter for cleaning, but I feel it's worth it.
Abs pump is in the stock location.

Haha I see, hopefully some compressed air will take care of that.

What do you guys think about putting one of these bastards in place of the high beam?

I like your idea about the intake boot. Any more info on this? Where did you buy the boot and what did you use exactly for the icv and vacuum fittings? How are they held in there? As for the hks filter, Id stay away from them. They definitely flow better, but they dont filtrate fine dust molecules as well as the paper filter. My buddy ran it on his r32 Skyline and when we removed the filters to clean them, The intake piping was black from dirt build up.

I'm thinking track day swappable setup.
Since I have to put the headlight back for regular driving anyways.

3" 90* 4 ply silicon elbow. Bought it from a local shop called verocious motorsports. I copied the positions of the 'nipples' from the bimmerworld intake. The icv nipple was a barbed water hose fitting from un-used obdII parts, the breather nipple was a 3/8 barbed t-fitting that i cut to be a straight barbed fitting. Both nipples are siliconed into the boot. So far they have been secure with no vacuum leaks.

I'll have to snap some pics of my setup it's made of plastic though.

www.siliconeintakes.com sells all kinds of silicone charge piping and v-band clamps for DIYing this kind of thing up. I think it cost me $40 or $50 shipped for a 90, a short striaght piece and 4 v-band clamps.

I like your choice of fittings for the ICV and crank breather I used big bastardly plastic plumbing elbows. I wasn't too impressed with how it turned out. I just could never get myself to sacrifice a headlight though.
