Not to try and hijack this thread, but I think this can go in here...
Anyway, I am planning on doing the fan delete mod on my motor while it is on the stand and out of the car, and I am planning on using bimmerworld's FDM kit and their SPAL fan conversion kit
Would I have any mounting/spacing issues if I use that fan kit on my M42 radiator, or would I be better off buying an E36 radiator instead? Any way of getting these items more inexpensively as opposed to these pre-made kits?
Thanks for any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I would recommend checking out my thread regarding fan fitment
Covers M42 rad fitment as well as E36 rad fitment.

Go with the e36 radiator but you can do the M42 if you want the cool no external reservoir look but with a little less cooling fluid capacity (I may be mistaken though).
I will have a spare 10in fan that blows 1220cfm if you are interested. My intention was to run 2 10in pullers but I decided against it. Much more clearance and pulls the same amount of air as the spal low profile 16in. I paired that with a 16in FFD fan that pushes 3600cfm through my condenser and also through my radiator. The 10in puller fan fires up at about half past quarter and the 16in pusher fires up right when it hits half and doesn't even stay on that long. Maybe like 15seconds if I am just sitting there idling or in heavy traffic. Most times during normal driving it never turns on the whole time. The 16in also turns on when I turn on the AC.
Neither of the fans are loud at all. I also set it up with a mishimoto aluminum rad, and bimmerworld fan delete kit. I can still remove my thermostat housing if I need to with everything in place.
The set up works beautifully and the car never even touches half95 7.1L 16V E36 M3

The pusher fan that I had was P/N 30102047.
Spal 30102047 16" High Performance Fan (Push). Spal cooling fan for car truck and motorcycle radiators, air conditioning condensors and oil coolers
It's super loud though, I'd recommend a curved blade one.
Spal 30102048 16" High Performance Fan (Push). Spal cooling fan for car truck and motorcycle radiators, air conditioning condensors and oil coolers
That doesn't seem to push as much as the FFD though.
The O/P is picking up this one:

^ I actually pick up thier "upgraded" version of that with aluminumized blades 3600ext. It fit behind the front valence fine, I could have just banged a little bit on the valence a bit to get it to fit fine without cutting anything but the OCD in me thought, what if it touches the motor and I can feel the vibration, so I did some cutting but you cannot see it from the outside (yay run-on sentence)
oh and the fane is very quiet. All you hear is the air rushing through. Its so much air that it actually turns the 10in fan when its not on lol.
