Has anybody used just a 16" SPAL pusher in front of the stock condensor, and survived? I'm trying to figure out an effective and simple solution to having a good cooling system and working a/c.

The Low Profile 16" SPAL Puller from bimmerworld.com worked great for me. Still have a solid inch of clearance. Was obviously able to retain my A/C pusher fan too.

So you have the low profile spal fan as a puller on the radiator and the oem pusher fan on the a/c condensor? How do you have the spal fan wired up?

why not just cut out the condensor and use the stock aux fan?

it depends. the o/p didn't say whether or not they're keeping a/c.
