    tired of searching

    1. i am swapping a m50 non vanos in a 325i. i assume i will need the matching harness from a non vanos m50 car and ecu that was attached to that harness from the factory?

    2. i have the 413 red label and i can get a m50 vanos harness for cheap. i would like to know if it is possible to run a non vanos motor with a vanos harness and matching ecu at all. really doubt it but its worth a shot

if not i just screwed myself by chopping up that harness as i pulled the motor. there were no other non vanos m50s out there

Why not? Harness would have 2 knock sensors and VANOS plug with no place to put them, mapping on the ECU would be slightly off.

          Is that it?

I have read that the ecu pinouts change slightly from vanos to non vanos ecm's. If I bought a non vanos chip for the vanos ECM would that take care of my problem? I realize I would need to compare the ECM pinouts

And just so I don't buy the wrong thing again which ECM do I need exactly for my non vanos motor. Brown label?

                1. What number am I looking for?
                2. did the non vanos cars have ews?
