    Another brake booster question

I have the e21 booster but decided I didn't want to mess around with the shaft modification. Nor do I want to slot my firewall to use the stock booster.

Is there a booster than I can just buy off the shelf and put it in that I can use with my master cylinder?! And not have to run a remote res? I've searched but getting frustrated....

Or if anyone has a booster laying around that is already modified so I could just bolt in and go, please let me know.

No matter what booster you use, you're going to have to modify something in order to make it work with a 24V motor.

Exactly. You're better off getting whichever unit you decide on, spending an hour or so and a few tools modifying it to work properly, or just not doing the work at all. Not trying to come off like a dick here, but if you can't be bothered to do the work that needs to be done to make it work, maybe you shouldn't be doing a motor swap.

I'm reading into the 7 series setup. The idea of a remote reservoir is kind of appealing to me. I just want to bolt up the booster without modifying that piece. I have a 14 shoe so the idea of moving the stock one over just won't work for me.

I looked at treehouse....$250 or so!! if available... yikes

nah...I know what you mean by what I'm saying. I've worked my ass of with this thing. I took the engine down to a bare block, pulled parts of junkyard cars and done all my own wiring. Yet to have any other hand lay on this swap other than my own. I drove the car in the garage last sunday at 4pm with the M20 in. So I've don all this in 9 days, as well as school full time. A driving trip to Maryland and another to Charlotte. My wife forgot what I looks like....

All I have left to do is sort out this booster, then the S50/zf is ready to go in. Exhaust will be the only thing needed then and I will have someone else do that. I'm just ready to drop it in and drive the bloody thing!!! I'm just frustrated with this booster thing....

            Hope you see my point.

I do, and like I said, not trying to be rude. But you are going to be spending mad money unless you just modify something.

Your brake pedal isn't going to change position. Only the booster does. I'm not really sure why people spend money on a booster unless they're looking to upgrade. It's only being moved half an inch, it's very easy to do, and it's free.

If you slot the firewall, and move over the booster, the brake pedal is still in the same place. It's quick and easy. No need to remove brake lines, bleed brakes, or spend any money. Just slot the original holes over 1/2", trim a couple fins on the intake, and voila!
I must have been typing my reply just before you posted this.

I was really fortunate to find a Porsche 944 booster on Craigslist for $30, all I had to do was modify the length of the booster pushrod, and it bolted right in, E30 master cylinder bolts right up to it. I put a wanted ad in the auto parts section of CL, and had 3 responses in a week. Guys are chomping at the bit to get rid of old P-Car parts.

I'm going to suggest the stock booster like a couple others did.. I drove mine with that setup for over a year. Now the brakes are manual because the plenum is too big to justify having a booster.
