    413 silver? 413 red?

What are the differences between the 413 red and the 413 silver?

Red does not have any EWS (drive away protection).

Silver does have EWS, and will require a chip to 'remove' it. Unless you have all the components of the matching EWS system.

I've recently learned that there is some overlap. Late reds may have EWS and early silvers may not. The change over is January 1994 according to the bentley manual. If you are buying one, run the last 7 of the VIN at realoem.com to get build date.

        1990 332is - work in progress.

I believe you are right on this one. I have a white label 413 that came out of a 93 525i, no VIN specific numbers on it. I believe there were some white labels that were factory replacements.

Does anyone know for sure what the story is with the white label DMEs?

I have one sitting...should it have EWS?

I'd like to know also. I have 2 white label ECUs, one 402, one 413. The 413 i have says 'made in spain', and i haven't been able to find a pic of one similar.

I actually think white/silver may be the same color, mine don't look very metallic.

                  Hmmm, still no solid info.

MarkD STILL has not returned my email, I want stock S50 tuning without EWS.

                  No love yet.
