FYI - the stock booster does NOT clear no matter how much you want it to
I'm not sure what the "hockey puck" mounts are. If they are cylindrical, than those are taller than the E28 mounts most people use and might assist in clearance.
What mounts are you using, and are you using any shims?

As far as the extra degrees, it would need to be more than a few to clear the I booster. Also, the engine would most generally need to be shimmed up on the drivers side, moving the intake manifold away from the booster, as well as the oil from the pump. This could cause starvation during left hand sweepers.
I'm not saying that you'll absolutely damage the engine. It is just something to take into consideration. I'm glad to hear your engine is still running strong.
Yes, we totally needed a thread for this... my friends and I were dropping the m50 in last night and we looked at the booster and thought it would clear with some persuasion. Nope. It all looked good until we started trying to get the trans to line up. We then tried to use a heat gun to melt the intake and deform it around the booster which didn't work. Propane didn't either. So now I'm going to slot the mounting holes and move it over. Don't be an idiot like me - fix the booster before dropping the motor into the car!
Did the m50 swap 3 weeks ago in an 89 convertible.. stock booster fits just fine. had to grind the fins on the rear part of the intake and space the engine 1/2"on the drivers side. that was it!
To properly displace oil throughout a 24v engine, the block/head must lay at 30 degrees from vertical. Be sure to take this into account when shimming up the engine, otherwise the oil will favor one side of the valve terrain as well as possibly starving the sump. With the engine placed at the correct angle, it is not possible to fit the stock 'I' booster, even after slotting the firewall over and trimming the baffles.
Just a friendly FYI and something to think about.
all our roads in Mississippi suck and are angled, pot holed, etc, etc.. doubt a 1/2 spacer on the drivers mount will hurt my swap or starve the engine from oil as compared to these shitty ass roads..
For those who have the intake manifold about 1/4" away from the booster, have you driven the car HARD to confirm the engine does not move enough to make contact?

What engine mounts are you running? There's NO WAY it will clear on my car. However, I did hear the early e30s might have a larger brake booster than late models?

I'm sure that depends on the engine mounts used.
I used 87 528e engine mounts.. They are the ones that aren't round.. Look more like ford v8 engine mounts. On my blackberry, so can't copy and paste a picture link right now
