    O-ringing the head

Anyone doing, or have done this? I'm trying to figure out what type/size head gasket i should get. I'll be running a Holset HX35 on my OBD1 s52 swap. I got the ARP head studs, but dont know what to do with the headgasket. I've been told going with an oversized head gasket can cause problems with blowing headgasket because of more surface area in combustion chamber. THen others suggested O-ringing the head with an OEM gasket would be a safer route. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks

Use the MLS, O mutilating the OE gasket is a BAAAD idea. You will have at least one get pushed up into the chamber and wound around a valve.

what? o-rings only stick up about .5mm. you aren't going to mutilate the gasket, or get it wound around a valve. it sits inside the combustion rings of the gasket.

generally I'd much prefer a factory BMW gasket over an MLS.
