I love the fact that this went from 14K a few years ago to 20K now. If you work on it yourself you save nearly 1/2 of it. Crucial point in M3 is RUST go over it with a good comb or take it for a PPI.

Rust under the windscreen cowl, under the rocker covers in the floor boards. Check it good.

Yeah, I think it mostly stems from the garage queen, take-it-to-the-shop-when-it-needs-air-in-the-tires crowd. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it just creates a mis-perception among non/potential owners.

if i had an m3 i would have that thing sideways everyday.
DD the hell out of it.
        love the hell out it.
new tires every 4 months just because it would be SO much fun!

i WILL own one, one day! i mean that too, when i have the time and money, i will have one!

i feel like if its made to perform, then take it to its performance!
let it do what its made to do...be a kickass machine!

any e30 m3 you buy will cost you 20k.
so you pay 6k, then spend another 14k to make it right.
thats just what people say, i think it means to make it right, but if it were me...i'd use that turbo m50 you have.
as long as you're getting over 300 to the wheels, rock it out!
People refer to that when an s14 is in it. Won't cost anything near that for the OP.

LOL! I'm a "purist" but who am I to try and impose my opinion on what someone wants to do with their car? In the end, you should be happy with your car. M50 is a low end swap especially on an M3 but look at it this way...same HP, more torque, cheaper parts, reliable, no valve adjustments, cheap to replace...etc. Only thing you're trading off is about 60lbs more up front and not having the proper engine. If the price is good, don't let the M50 deter you.

I'm rebuilding my S14 right now and have replaced all wear items in the engine. It's not for the faint of heart. I thought about just swapping in an S50 and being done with it but chose not to.

you could always drop an s50 in the bitch and be happy, you'll have the same mounts and shitz.
then turbo that bitch and run a 75shot of nos!
                    450 to the wheels!
                    yeah you'd be happy

In 10 years your car will be worth say 50k and my car will be worth 12k maybe lol.

And as for the engine I have a built m50 I was getting ready to put in my car. We were looking to get 500hp out of it so thats whats going to go in the car if I get it. Getting the m3 would also solve the problem of how I was going to fit those 16x9.5 -10s in the rear!!

I say buy it. What's the asking price? Regardless I would seriously consider it no matter what engine is in it. An E30 M3 shell without rust is worth (to me anyway) at least 5k.

You can always boost the fuck out of the m50 or if I was doing it drop in an S50B32 or S38B38 and have a sweet ass car.

IMO the valuable part is the M3 shell.

Do it up. Get it in top shape (maintenance/suspension/bodywork, etc.) then drop an S motor in it. With it already having a 24v swap everything is ready for you to put an S50/52 into it and the S54 swap is happening more and more.

Think about this: When you look into your driveway, will you be excited as hell to jump into it and drive or will you look at it and think about how it has the "wrong" engine?
