    Deference's Between E28 M5 and 335i Motor Mounts???

Are there any differences between the E28 M5 motor mounts and the E28 535i motor mounts apart from a $56 price difference???

I assume the M5 mounts are made of a stiffer rubber to handle the extra HP, but other than that are the offsets, etc.. all the same?

    Well either work?

Also, will theses still give you enough clearance for shorty headers?

    Thanks!

You mean the E30 333i motor mounts from the SA special car? Or E28 535i motor mounts?

I believe the m5 mounts are 5mm taller and a bit stronger than the regular 535. Just get the 535 mounts and add the spacer in for your swap.

I actually cut mine out of some left over aluminum stock I had. I'm sure you can improvise and make some yourself.

How big of offset is needed? Is it possible to just make them out of UHMW plastic and drill a single hole? I believe the length is 2.5". My motor is in but not bolted down for need of the motor mounts.

535i and M5 mounts are the same height. The only difference is that the M5 is a stiffer rubber on one side, and the other side is cylindrical shaped.

I originally ordered M5 mounts and I was having some fitment problems, then I ordered the 535i mounts and realized they were the same height and same stud offset.

Where you having fitment problems with the stud positions? Or clearance somewhere else like headers?

To be honest, I don't remember for sure. I think I had to slot the subframe holes really far, and it was pushing the mounts out into the body. The 535i type seemed to work a little since the flat edge at the bottom of the mount was going to rest against the body.
