Where is the oil return from the block to the pan usually blocked for dry sump?

I have an engine that was being prepped for dry sump and I just want to make sure there's no blockages before I put the E34 pan on it. I'm not that familiar with the dry sump system. Where should I check? It still has the stock oil filter housing on it. Should I pull the housing too to check the chambers?

i thought a dry sump didn't have an oil pan, well it kinda does but use the e34 pan for a dry sump system?

No no no. lol. I'm sorry. I should clarify. I'm using the M50 oil pump and E34 pan = wet sump. The engine had a dry sump oil pan on it and therefore was missing the oil pump and chain. I want to make sure there's no blockages so that I can go wet sump. So I'm asking where I should look for a blockage someone may have made since they were going to dry sump the engine, which I am not.
