M20 FW is single mass and can be shaven down, everyone here usually has an M20 and swaps their M50 over; knowing that the M20 is a single mass they just swap it over since its advantagous. You can't put an M20 starter on an M50 flywheel because the gear pitch is different so you're always going to see M20 starter M20 flywheel combo, or M50 starter M50 flywheel. In the end, the difference is really what part you have access to and if you'd like to shave your FW down.
