HAH, so... I've got no humming from my pump in "on" nor while cranking - I've removed the backseat and cover panel. I think the only reason it was firing before, was that the old gas created enough pressure in the tank with the vent valve vacuum plugged that it allowed it to elusively start when it had been cranked end over end and had slowly gotten enough fuel to randomly sputter.

Need to check the pump and connector now... pin number? anyone? lol

check the fuel pump relay for power and see if the relay is clicking/sending power to the fuel pump wire when you turn key to ign+

ding ding ding, its not priming, checked pin 13 on both c101 and x20 - and checked the connector for continuity. Which relay is it?

One of the four pins. There is Fuel pump, O2 heater and Main. Fuel and O2 are 4 pin, Main is 5.

Fuel pump relay on the e34 harness was near the dme in the waterproof box

Reference the etk time? It has a very good map; it's scary to dive into but like sex is worth it.

Break out the multimeter and verify continuity after you find out which relay and what colour the fuel pump power 12v+ is.

Simple guess and check with multimeter and pen an paper will let you find this, also starting fluid will isolate if your ignition system is functioning properly. If not, adding full may just complicate your non starting issue.

Check colour of all wires and verify their terminus with meter at fuel pump, fuel pump relay, main relay to fuel pump relay relationship, and ignition key + trigger (which triggers these relays).

As one member prior said; main is 5 wire Bosch relay, the fuel and o2 /injector /coil similar other are 4 wire slave relay's and driven off the main when driver turns key to ign+ position (the position right before the starter engages)

At that point there should be 12v+ at all coils, and fuel pump should be on and making 3.5 bar @ rail.

When dme sees crank sensor activity it will fire coils / spray fuel according to temp of engine, amount of metered air passing the afm

Trace the Path of power to fuel;find the wire and verify the continuity

Engine to chassis x20 or whatever big round connector from e36/34 engine harness

Just FYI, those ETMs SUCK. They are incomplete at best, and sometimes simply wrong. These were the ones I found fully accurate:

update: got the new fuel relay in the mail and threw it in tonight, car started up and I left it running for 30 seconds before I killed it. It hunted for idle up and down between the same range of rpms hunting for idle the entire time. When I went to start it the second time, it wouldn't start, aired it out at the throttle body for a lil and went to give it another shot. Still nothing. Could a bad MAF be causing this issue?
