edit** car does NOT have coolant in it... I'm putting some in and bleeding the system to try again on Friday

have you checked all grounds, soldered and shrink wrapped all wiring connections and checked them again?
Usually people wiring swaps make mistakes and don't make catch them till start up round after exhausting every single possibility with throwing parts at it (human nature, I've done it also).OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Added some coolant to the equation today, and in true 'take one step forward then two back' fashion - as has become the norm for the project, my thermostat housing is leaking like a sieve.:drink::woowoo: SO I'm ordering a new tstat gasket tonight and a new thermostat while I'm at it just to be safe.
I figured, what the hell, lets try anyways - and it started right up like last time, still hunting for idle around 2000 rpm up and down. I got it on video too - blipped the throttle for the first time ever since the swap... at least I got a smile out of that:pimp::D
That was short lived though... because my droid x has been a piece of shit lately. The damn thing froze (surpriseeee) while it was saving my video...
So at this point, I think its fair to say that it starts fine, once a day first try, but then on subsequent trys (even with airing out the throttle and adding starting fluid ) the car won't start.

try to unplug airflow meter and start, had a subaru with bad AFM that would run for 8 seconds at a time before dying. very very annoying problem to diagnose!!!OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25
