    No Fuel

I finally got the alternator, and starter hooked up correctly. Or at least im pretty sure i did. My problem now is i am not getting any fuel. I pulled both fuel lines off and tried starting the car to see if fuel would shoot out from one of the lines, but nothing.

after i hooked everything up, with fuel lines attached, the engine cranks over a little slowish and wont light off. any suggestions as to what i should check? thanks

take the fuel feed line off and stick it in a bottle. Then jumper the fuel pump relay.

i talked with a friend and we somewhat came to the conclusion that it has to be the fuel pump relay, so im headin to the local bmw shop to snag one.

      how do you jumper it?

if you reference the e34 auto to manual swaps, they jump wires in the relay to connect and invoke power. usually the "P" in the automatic triggers it, but post manual swap is non-functional.

bmw uses a dummy jumper relay in manual e34 cars.

K went over and checked to make sure all harness connections were correct. I Had the camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor switched, so I figured that would have been the problem, but still nothing. Unfortunatly I don't have a bently or hands, I've jst been using the ETM's. How can I check this pin?

It's 30 to 87. Use a fused jumper, this way you will eliminate the possibility of frying some wiring.

I tried that. And still nothing. I also went to a junk yard and pulled some other relays to se if mine were bad. Still no change. I've been told/read that you should be able to hear the fuel pump turning on when then key is turned to on position. This is not happening so I need to check if I am getting power to the pump. Any other suggestions?

clicking from the e30 fuse box or the three relays on the engine harness?

                      Ecu case grounded?

make sure you hear the relays clicking on with the key to the on position. They should have a separate power wire on the harness....it's a small gauge wire with an eyelet.

it is definitly from the e30 fuse box. i just had my brother come out and listen with me.

i can also for sure here the relays clicking with the key turning to on position. the second click comes when i try and turn the engine over. i had it cranking over before with no fuel, I didnt change a thing, and then it stopped trying to crank. i did notice a small amount of smoke coming from the starter though which worries me.

Ok, the fuel pump is based on crank signal. It wont turn it on until it sees solid crank.

                            First.
Do you have a check engine light? - If no, (because you havent wired it) - wire it.
If yes - Is it on when in the run position?
                            Second
Do you have an ETM, OBD1 should have a VR sensor on the crank. Read for mV while cranking by back probing your X6000 connector.

Do you have 30 power at the relay? Unless your wiring to the pump is damaged or wired incorrectly, it sounds like a fuel pump. Jumping 30 and 87 will run the pump no matter what position the key is in or whether or not the DME sees engine cranking. Do you have a volt meter or a test light handy?
