aux fan looking for a simple answer

I know its been covered over and over again but I am just looking for a simple answer. I bought a 16" spal fan I want it wired up to the high speed and not even bother with the a/c button. So I have it grounded and connected to the blk/grn wire and when ever the ignition is turned its on even if it's not hot. How do I fix this so it just turns on when it gets hot?

you use the temp switch on the pass side of the radiator. the one that sticks out horizontally.
    No more e30s for me.

Yep, you've got it wired to constant power right now, you want it wired in with the temp switch so it doesn't come on until it reaches a certain temp.

I have the same one wired that way, but we're actually going to run a wire into the car with an LED so I know when it comes on, and also a switch so I can turn it on manually if I need to.

So the temp switch sticks out on the radiator on the passenger side right? I have a wire from the harness going into it and then the other two are just one wire that are both connected to the temp switch does it connect to one of those?

you dont know when your fan is on? my sounds like a plane about to take off. i also used an aftermarket temp switch that has a probe going in the radiator. for now i have it on constaint hot, so it runs when the car is off.
          NEED SOME VINYL STICKERS???

Ya I can tell when it's on. I don't want to use aftermarket wiring I just want to wire it to the old aux fan wiring so it turns on when it gets hot but I bought the car without the aux fan so I don't know where to wire it to

Dual temp switch in the radiator is the logical choice especially if there's no aux fan.

is why i bought e36 lower temp switch so my 16spal fan kick on at the half temp gauge which cool the car off perfect even in traffic on very hot days. im still using stock aux wiring including res to spal 16inch pusher fan.

here's a diagram of aux fan wire.
