My s50 gives me about 310 miles when the low fuel light comes on. I am sorry but that sounds rediculous. My e36 m3 gets better mileage than my swapped e30 - this doesnt make any sense. I read that other thread about gas mileage on these swaps and mine falls into the category of everyone else I guess, but why? Its a more power engine in a light body. It should in theory be getting us about 28 up right?

I get 27.8 all day long almost no matter how I drive my S50/ZF/S2.93.
IIRC the E36 M3 has a bigger gas tank? I'm not 100% on this but, that would account for a few miles. 310 miles isn't bad. In my '86 with the S50 I'm filling up right around 300 miles.Need a part? PM me.

Miles per tank vs. miles per gallon...
Your e30 has a 14.5 gallon tank. Reserve light comes on with 1.7 gallons remaining.
So:
14.5 - 1.7 = 12.8 Gallons used
310 Miles / 12.8 gallons used = 24.21875 miles per gallon.
The E36 M3 has a 17.1 gallon tank. Are you using the right math?
I've had an S50 M3, an S52 M3, and an S52 M coupe - on average I got about 21-22 MPG out of them all.
Haven't finished my S50 swap yet, but my M20 gets 19.2 MPG on average. My E39 540i gets closer to 18. More like 12 if I spend the day in the mountains. I'd say you are doing fine.
...Apparently I too drive like an asshole. :)Current:

is the problem range or milage. the e30 has a 14G tank right? so a little over 300 sounds about right for city driving. Should be between 21-24 realistically. Go for a 70mph cruise on the HW and see how far you get.

Wow, I wish I got that kind of mileage in my stroked m50 around town. I barely hit 230 miles on the tank. Hopefully my S52 will get a bit better mileage.
Having said that, I get around 300 miles if its all highway.IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here
