do you have any idea about that ? ?

and what if i switched to G250 ?
Why did you change final drive of the car? Why not leave the original trans+rear diff?

the difference in redline of M42 and M50b20 should not be very different, (7,000 should be ok for the m50b20 no problem).
also the hp will be very similar, torque also

    1900cc I4 vs 2000cc I6 = same thing not much difference.

so the gearing as Original should have worked pretty well.

What was original final drive gearing on the car?

The car was stock 318 with differential 3.64 and i swapped to m42 with its trans G240... but i didnt change the diff i left it as it is 3.64 ... but with the m42 the car didnt go over 196 kmh... and i really didnt like the m42 so i thought to try the m50b20.. so i bought the m50b20 "without the gearbox" and i toke the G240 from the m42 and made it work with m50b20 because every one told me its okay to make the m50b20 run with G240....... but as i see there is something going wrong.... the car is too fast ... i was ruining with e36 m50b28 and i didnot feel any differences in the power or the performance before 160 kmh because we didnt go over that......... but there is i cant understand why this car cant go over 200...

That makes no sense at all. You replace a 3.64 with a 3.64 and now you go faster?

do you not understand torque curves???
my cam'd m20 has NO torque under 3k. i get good mpg in 5th at 70mph, but if i punch it it does nothing, i down shift i get the afterburners and GO!

jeeze man learn to downshift and be happy., if you want power through the whole rev range buy a R6

oh and do you know what an electronic speed governor is? get a chip remove governor. BAM

i know how to down shift loool all i was askin about the 5th gear issue and i got it solved by replacing the stock 4 calender differential to the bigger one that fits the 6 calender engines maybe there was something wrong with the stock differential now i can reach 214kmh and thats all i can get...... Thanks anyways man...
do you know a good chip to replace the stock one because i didnt find in turner web site chips for m50b20 ? ?

                          This should make you slower.
If you want to go fast (I like to race at 220kmph++) then you will need a 3.73, 3.91 or 4.10, you have so little power you need to shorten the gearing.

I ran a 3.38 final drive with my zf 5 speed but that one has no overdrive. I also choose an engine WITH ENOUGH POWER to go fast.

You need 200 Hp really to go 220kmph over.

If the change to a heavier rear diff made a difference you did not originally have a 3.64.

Either way, I doubt your original diff ratio and this replacement mystery unit are the same if the same engine has made the same "high" speed attempt

Size of rims makes no difference in top speed if you have the power to push them. Larger rims will lower the gearing and allow you to reach HIGHER top speeds

Wangan = racing at 220kmph OVER.

                            .......
i really appreciate your help man thanks so much ....
about the differential... since i bought the car it had 3.64 and the guy told me every thing is stock.... but .. maybe the guy that i bought the car from him did some changes ... but i really really feels a big diffidence from the old small one and the heavier one that i just installed but maybe you are right the old one wasnt 3.64 and some one maybe changed the plate number ......anyways that wont make difference now....

so now i can reach 214 with the 5th gear ... and finally i feel the 5th gear can do something... what i wanna know if my gearbox doesnt have overdrive will it break the 220 or 210 ? ? or will it be faster.. ? actually i do not really understand what is the overdrive for?? or what does it really do .. and as i know the G250 doesnt have over drive.. should switch to G250 ?

                              If your current box is from e30 - it's a g240

G250 is non overdrive, 5th gear 1:1 like 4th in most cars

G250 is like g240 without 5th gear. It has 5 speed also, but is spaced close- so it's 5th gear = 4th gear of g240.

Spacing becomes very close and the final drive number gets dropped Down lower.

                              Those are better for mountain/track

For wangan, you want longest gearing possible and LOTS OF POWER :)

the more torque u have, the lower the gearing u can run - if you have a turbocharged car they love low gearing (to load the turbo)
