S52 obd1 conversion, Few Main questions..

I know this has been asked/coved before, its just there is so much in put on this matter so i will like to hear from the people who actually done wat it is i'm asking so sorry in advance.. I just picked up a s52, and all the obd1 stuff out of a 95 325is sensors, Manifold(intake only) ecu.

Subject ?#1. Is this the rite drama free ECU and is this all I need for the obd1 conversion? (ecu,harness,afm,o2 sensor, crank sensor knock sensor. Do i need the coil packs as well or can I use the stock S52's? will this ecu need software? Picture of ecu below.

Subject ?#2. Brake Booster.. Slot the holes or run the 320? I think its better to move mine over, some folks seem to not think of that as a good idea.

Subject ?#3. Exhaust Manifold.. I have the stock S52 headers with the factory cats and resonators.. Will this work fine with a little modding or is there a smipler way?

Subject ?#4I want to use my g260/stock Transmission. Ive read you have to shave the 525 oil pan then some say you dont. Ive also read stock M20 FW bumps into the block, in hence needing to be shaved. I have acess to the S52 trans, but can I use stock drive shaft? should I use Trans, drive shaft (if it fits), is this the better route? Again everyone I read and read up on this/i have researched this.. it just seems to me? Any help will be greatly appreciated.. again THANKS in advance;). PM me as well, with any help!

Yes but get a chip from TRM for you specific combo, They are the shit when it comes to this stuff

I would get an e21 booster rather that move the holes over. Just my opinion though. Some have done it fine and heard some had issues with the brake pedal binding.

less rasp with the obd2 manifolds. go that route and have the ports welded up.

ZF tranny has a 4 bolt flange IIRC and will require at least a diff drive shaft that bolt to it. The 260 will require you to shave down the pan or the back of the clutch. Also you will not be able to remove the oil pan after your oh so tight stance bust it. (kidding of course) you can drill holes in the bell housing for easy access but thats just ghetto IMO. What ratio do you have in the car? I'm running a 3.46s and love it with my 260. I would recommend a lower gear with the zf. 3.26 tops with that tranny due to no OD. Good luck and your going to ove your car with the S52.

Thank you Very Much. I believe the car has a 3:73 open.. rusty diff tag:) So 320 BB wins. so running s52 stock manifolds and mid section will work? ive read manifold will rub on sway bar.. So apparenty I have everything I need to convert the engine over to obd1 -software. Now I need to figure out the brake booster. ok so I want to run my stock trans, what did you do about trans mounts? 1 M20 engine mount and stock trans mount? or did you make a custom trans braket? Also shaving the oil pan only or oil pan and shave FW? Again and again Thanks!!

Soch12vm20 you can shave either one oil pan or Flywheel but the best option is the flywheel shave a couple of pounds off for quicker rev's.

No you need a chip configured for an s52 with 21lb injectors(pink top) The red label take care of the OBD1 thing and doesn't have EWS

Now I need to figure out the brake booster.

2 sentences ago you said you were going with the 320?

ok so I want to run my stock trans, what did you do about trans mounts?

White325is sells them on the cheap. Get one, they have the correct angle

1 M20 engine mount and stock trans mount? or did you make a custom trans braket?

Use the AKG poly engine mounts. They have the correct angles and height. 10k miles done the road they won't be breaking into like the cheap ass green mounts. I would also get the Trans mounts from them to that have the cups to help keep everything in place. The cup goes against the trans and there is nothing that tells you that when you pick them up. Also the engine mounts have specific sides they belong on so pay attention to how you put them on.

Also shaving the oil pan only or oil pan and shave FW? Again and again Thanks!!
Get the Fly wheel shaved on the back. search and you will the perfect amount to get taken off. Use the flywheel, clutch combo, and pilot bearing of the tranny your using or upgrade. Many thread on that as well.

I miss read, you answered all me questions:D, Thanks and trust me you was very helpful. What I meant about the 320BB is that idk if I'm gonna buy one from treehouse or modd it me self. Which for the price they charge i might just try doing it me self.
