R3v, help me reposition my engine

So I noticed a squashed mount and decided to dig in.
PO made custom engine arms to mount on M20 mounts. I don't like it. Now the engine is turned wrong and the oil pan (and whole drivetrain) isn't straight.

I took the passenger mount out, then the tranny brace. The engine is so twisted that when I took the driver side tranny mount upper bolt off, it shot off and that side lifted even more. Haven't taken driver side mount/arm out yet.
I'll be picking up e36 arms tomorrow but I'm not sure about the e28 mounts. Some say green hex mounts on both sides, some say cylindrical ones (similar to M20 but taller?).

The biggest bitch is the O2 sensor. Any ideas how to sort that out?

Old passenger side mount. Looked much worse with engine weight on it.
Shouldn't have bout the new ones, but oh well.

Tranny brace as per viweing from the rear of the car. Left side pulled up, right side pushed down.

Tranny, pretty crooked, the wooden block is pretty much level with the ground.
You can see the tab on the left touching the tunnel.

More space to the right of the trans.

Headers sitting. This is why i started redoing it.

    Same, from the rear

    That damn sensor.

Lots of room here. VW Polo booster.

sorry, im having a hard time figuring out what is going on..

The PO made custom engine mount arms? pictures of how the engine sits in the bay?

Looks like the transmission brace is untouched... what transmission are you using?

with the respective factory engine mount arms, the M20 and M50 sit at different relative angles in the engine bay (~11* different)

Conventionally the M50 is mounted with the E36 mount arms, which puts it at its normal angle in the engine bay. this when used with the factory E30 tranmission causes the transmission to be rotated that 11* as well. Which requires a custom/modified transmission brace, and modified shifter.

This is where i am having a hard time. You are using the factory transmission brace, but yet judging by the brake booster clearance the engine isnt rotated enough to have that work...

My transmission has less room on one side than the other as well. Have been running for that for more than a year with no side effects.

I've been told that the bottom of the oil pan should be level with the subframe.
Mine sinks on the header side.
Basically, I need to lift the header side and lower the driver side, or in other words rotate the whole engine probably those 10 degrees clockwise, looking at the front of the car.

You can pretty much see the angle here (taken from uder the trans). The plank should be about level with the pan.
        I think its a G260.

If I got the engine leveled (juding by the pan bottom) the transmission would also be level and wouldn't pull/push on the mounts, rather sit nicely.
Right now the shifter aims a little to the right (passenger). That should also be straight if engine/trans turns clockwise a little (looking at the car from the front).

Just buy the proven E36 arms and M5 motormounts? What trans are you running?

Yea, but which M5 mounts? Cylindrical on both sides, green hex on both sides, or cyl/hex combo like the M5?
            I couldn't find a 100% answer searching old threads.

I don't see why people won't clean up their engine and tranny when it's already out of the car, Much nicer not dealing with 8kg's of crusty oil and fluid:loco:

It's not out. Swap was done almost two years ago.
I will clean it when I'm done with this positioning mess, don't worry ;)

                    What's the difference?

These should be the round ones.

I used the hex on both sides and the exhaust side started compressing to over 1/2" in less than a year. I would never use them again.

I'm using the revshift stuff, it's working out pretty well so far. 10psi of boost and counting...

the mounts you have work fine, the only difference is the E28 ones are a little more beefy...

I still believe something is wacky with the the mount arms/tranmission mounting... hence why everything was 'spring loaded' when you pulled it apart....
