    OBD2 FPR... e46 vs e36

Well, as some may know, my FPR called it quits, i got a replacement sent to me, and they sent me an entire fuel rail with what looks to be an FPR on the back..

    looks like this

E36 one that i had looked like this:

then according to real oem, both cars have what i thought was the only FPR which is this:

Im confused, i expected to get another unit like shown in the third picture.... do E46 have 2?

Ironically, I was trying to get that one... My M54 came with the non-return fuel rail and I needed to add an external FPR. I think there's a difference between US and ROW e46s when it comes to the fuel rail; the non-return fuel rail is an emissions feature- fuel warms as it circulates through the rail, warm fuel returns to the tank and increases the vapor pressure and evaporative emissions.

I think you are correct. My FPR on my Australian spec E36 328i is on the OBD2 fuel rail, not underneath the car near the FCA bushing mounts like it seems to be documented in US forums.

The OBD2 E36's had a chassis mounted FPR. You can find some OBD1 Fuel rails that dont have FPR's on them but 99% of them have the FPR near #6 on the rail.
I have no idea what Fuel rail is in that first pic. It looks like an OBD2 E36 one with a regulator on it for some reason.

if your FPR took a dump, you can just remove it and replace it. no reason to remove the running losses valve or change systems.

obd1 M50, obd2 s52 both use same modular unit 3.5 bar FPR. they are modular and can be interchanged, you can even plug and play a 5.0 bar FPR from e39 m5 in its place.
