    What? no it's not. The only thing that matters is injector pulsewidth, and the size of the injector. Fuel flow is linear with respect to pulsewidth. Since you know exactly how much fuel mass flows through an injector at a given puslewidth, MPG is basically pulsewidth/MPH. Air density and other bullshit doesn't make any difference. You don't have a clue what you're talking about.

    the only thing the coding plug tells the OBC is cylinder count and injector size. the reason your OBC/econometer goes to hell with a swap (or standalone) is because you've changed injector size. nothing else makes any difference.

    Wrong. All that matters is the mass of fuel you used (known because of linear injector flow rates) and the distance you've traveled.

    Coils don't matter, all you need is an injector signal. I had mine wired directly to your ms board, the input hooked to the INJ1 header and the output to the regular fuel rate output pin.

    Go pull a cluster off any 92-95 e36 on the back is a white coding plug in the back, on the OBD2 clusters there is a provision in the mold but the access plug is tabbed an no socket.. How can what I'm asking for not exist if that's the way BMW handle this issue with engine configs?


    I buy blueberries too, but I wouldn't pay $6 for a pack of them out, I'd go get a can for $.99. Smart peeps don't buy out of season Mexican fruit.

    The point of this thread was to find out who the COMPANY is that makes the coding plug fix. I know I saw a banner on the bottom of R3V about 3 months ago and it had a .gif with an OBC flashing dashes on the display for this.

    Hoveringuy don't let me get you down I doubt you are. I feel like you could dish out a little better product and merit the price you are asking.

    Good product idea, good member to the community. I just hope you aren't trying to make over 50% profit on these $16 of Taiwan chip and PCB.

    You have shown, on many levels, that you have no idea what you're talking about. The coding plug deals with tach operation. That is, number of cylinders and tach scale. It has nothing to do with the displacement of the engine, which means jack shit when calculating instantaneous gas mileage (for reference, that would be the injector size and duty cycle, as well as base fuel pressure).

    I am not going to go into your ridiculous pricing expectations except to say that when you have done the work yourself on a single similar product, then you can speak. You have brought great shame to your famiry.

    Steve's board gets spliced in the circuit below (or one similar depending on your application) The DME is the dotted box at the bottom.


    E30s use a coding plug in the OBC and the cluster, if you pull up the ETM for say, an 87, on page 6210-5 it shows the layout of the fuel rate circuit.

    It goes to the cluster on pin 11 where it is spliced directly (unmodified by the cluster coding plug) to the OBC output, pin 25, where it's up to the OBC's code plug to correct the signal depending on engine configuration.
