im using 220 now with m50b28 ind i plan to using 240 to get taller ratio

The 240 will handle that engine, no problem. They're good for up to 300+ wrhp.

I have seen plenty of 240s behind US S50s and S52s. Never even heard of the 220 before though.

They do exist, very little info about them.
If you can, get the 240, atleast the transmission brace/mounts won't have to be modified in any way. Sits nice and straight.

the getrag 220 come from e36 Europe 318is to 325, its the same as getrag 250 in the us,
the Getrag 260 is the best one cane handle horsepower, but i don't know about 220 and 240 hose strongest?
i think the 240 need to taller drive shaft than 220 / 250.

The 240 can definitely handle a worked M50.

The number (ie 260nm) is the torque rating of the transmission so higher would be stronger.

The G240 can handle around 300 hp and 300 ft lbs of torque.

If you make more power than that you have a problem. I know this first hand because I blew up 2 of them this year behind a turbo M42 powered E30 club race car. This is a video of the first one we blew.

I just got done putting my M50 on the green E28M5 engine mounts and OEM E36 engine arms last week. The engine and 240 trans sit perfectly. The OEM trans brace doesn't have to be modified in any way. In neutral, my shifter is exactly straight.
Makes me happy. PO made a shitty setup with fab'd motor arms so I had to fix that after trashing the M20 engine mounts on track days.
