    IX 24v

    Hello every body...
I am seaching to do this for a customer an hoping some help can come along the way. Or help with searches for people later.

    Few basic questions to start.

    1. What oil pan/s have people used and where were they welded. Pic if posible.

    2. Combinations of Booster/MC that people have gotten to work with this swap.

    3. What motor mounts.

    4. 24v question i have not answerd... What have people done to adapt A/C into this swap.... E36 A/C pump? Stock condencer, line?

Any help with this would be greatly apreciated, advice or links for info. This is for a customer at my shop not my self so i am looking to do the best job i can to make it a daily not a track car, so im not cutting corners.

if you use E34 525ix parts, the stock ix brake booster should work fine. with E30 ix mounts and a modified oil pan, it gets.. complicated.

Ok i have seen the 525ix parts thrown around..... Now i can go either way but with the 525 parts am i understanding then that you have to use E34 front diff, rear diff, t-case, and a custom shaft. Idk if this guy has that much cash. where if i can just weld the pan and tap some holes i would do that route.

you should be able to use the E30 transfercase but you need E34 everything else and a matching 3.38 rear diff.

this is not going to be something that can be done cheaply, especially not if he's paying a mechanic/shop to do it for him. Just parts alone are going to be expensive.

if you want to go the frankenpan route, it will be cheaper, but getting the brakes to work is going to be a huge challenge, and the engine sits at a funky angle.

Thats what i was thinking with the Frankenpan rute is my brake options. Im not big on the hydro boost... i would like to stick Vacuum.... or Manual. As long as manual works fine and feels decent. i would think he would be ok with it. but its going to be like trying to stop a late 60's camaro with drum brakes, i doubt hes going to do that option.

To the OP, don't take this the wrong way but you have to know how you're going to get your hat BEFORE you throw it over the fence.

it wouldnt have been impossible to do it with ABS, but a lot of work for something i can do without....

I know this, i spent 6 months planing my 24v swap and getting parts ready, Researching wiring, and what not.
I just have my shop owner telling me this shouldnt be too hard and that i should have a parts list to him already. And im like ok this stuff takes time and planing.

I also like that booster and master routing in the last post.

there will be plenty to weld, so make sure to take fab costs into consideration

                              - no stock exhaust is going to fit
                              - No 'unmodified' brake setup will work...Hydroboost *DOES NOT* bolt in and fit with everything mounted normally... it does not clear the throttle body AT ALL.

                              - The E32 setup i used took a good amount of fab to get it to fit... im not an expert welder by any means though..

brackets for the E32 brake setup

                              linkage rod bent/shortened/re threaded

Shaved nearly an Inch from the top of the mounting block to bring the reservoir down enough to clear the hood.

Not to mention all new brake lines:
