I like my Castro's Customs Airbox. It's just so properly fitting and not to mention the functionality over looks thing is really a +1 as well. Thanks Chris, you're just a cool guy. As a matter of fact, I'm going to go ahead and pay you a visit next week.

I asked the price for a reason. If it's a $75 or under heat shield, I would consider it a good part. But for some reason, I remember it being much more than that.

I'd send my cash towards Castros- at least they are making the item/and designing it in the USA. It also looks original, not knocked off.

Support the California economy, Cali needs your business!!

KA motors goods seems to be ebay/outsource/china. Sorry, no communist support here.
Their carbon muffler looking air filter thing looks to be a knock off of a knock off.

"top fuel power chamber" was the original carbon intake canister thing, then kakimoto and weapon R and megan and other cheap knockoff brands all ripped them off.

Knock offs = IP (intellectual property) theft. Don't support IP theft, HKS USA in Los Angeles went out of business from all the knock offs!!

Basically what phreshkid said. I've had the box in my m20 powered car.

Functions and looks great in the engine bay. Original product which fits snug.
I'd assume it works better too because the box is completely sealed off from the engine bay except in the front where the grill is as opposed to the kamotor cai where you have a small velocity hole for the air to just get into.

It also covers the cone filter completely which is a no-no in CA if your hood is popped. (illegal smog device).

              My vote goes to Castro's.

I did a very nice S50 swap for one of my customers but the air intake was just a cone filter.

The customer worked with Castros and they hooked him up with the air box.

I was very impressed actually. It seemed to be of very nice quality, I also like the way they relocated the cooling reservoir to the passenger side using a E30 M3 expansion tank.

I have a S52 swap that is going in this December, I will be getting a Castros Air Box and setting it up in similar fashion.

                Impressive.

I am surprised they have not posted up any pictures of the box or pricing in this thread?

Not the greatest picture of the Air Box, but you can get the idea.

Very nice addition to what was already a awesome swap, Good Job Castros!

I got a chance to talk to Chris and Castro, and am also very, very impressed. Once I figure whats needed to do the above expansion tank move to the passenger side, and move my working cruise control, I will be doing the same. I think I just need to call ;-)

It's not a must. I have the reservoir in the stock location.

Glad you guy's like the box's, pricing on the box's are from $200 - $230 add $75 for kit's plus shipping. As far as group buy's go Polak and I haven't really discussed it but we will be talking it over. Before anyone goes talking s$#@ about pricing, these box's are well maid and the profit margin is very small. The only reason why we made them in the first place was for our customer's swap and MAF cars, but thanks to polak we started reproducing them. But thanks to all of you who like the product and have good things to say about it, and yes these are made in the USA.

I tried setting up a group buy a while ago for $150 per box, but everyone was complaining about the price. We sell a good quality product at a fair price. Fair enough that Bimmerworld, Ireland Engineering, Guten Parts, along with numerous members and customers have purchased it with great satisfaction.

If you want to go make you're own heat shield for $75, then by all means go do so. However, the boxes' price also includes the R&D that Chris has put into them. Just like any other product sold by a reputable vendor, there is an added profit margin for overhead and R&D.

Thanks to everyone for the positive responses. We have some big things in the works before the end of the year, so stay tuned! :pimp:

i bought the kamotors one. had one before and i liked it, put it in yesterday and..yep i like it again lol. it really came down to price. i couldn't justify double the cost for what seemed like a glorified heat shield(no offense) when i know i can modify something to "hide" this large carbon can in my engine bay...though it does look bad ass.

the sound it makes is amazing. you can really hear the gulps of air the motor takes. when spring comes i will be popping out the highbeam and running some ducting and what not.
