    Slave cyl-0 ZF-3!

Well I went to install the slave in my ZF Sat. afternoon and as soon as it started to build pressure it blew, brake fluid pours from bell housing. Stuck a drip under and called it a day.

Well today I went to Autozone and got a new slave ( e30 325i) and installed it, started bleeding and seemed all was going well, heard a little click and kept pumping and all of a sudden my res starts emptying, I look under and SOB! slave is blown WTF?!?

not sure about it repeatedly blowing, but shouldn't you be using the e36 slave?

Never did with any other trans....

After a little parts comparing I noticed the 96-99 M3 share a different part # than the 328i,318i etc. Which all use the same and it is comporable to the E30 slave. All I can deduce it the pressure plate is too strong for the hydraulics.

You have to use a different slave with the ZF. If you run the stock slave on a ZF trans, the distance the plunger has to travel is more than the range of the slave itself. What's happening is that you pump the slave, it over extends, then pops out.

You need a diff slave home dog. Same thing happened to me but in reverse. The salve from my ZF wouldn't fit into my GR260.

        Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

          I figured.......

The thing is space is sooooo tight with the ZF slave the line screw is on the side where the E30/e36 getrag slave is on the bottom away from the already tight tunnel space.

I didn't need to cut anything. Not sure if the UUC clutch line gave me an advantage in terms of the packaging, perhaps bc it's longer, but I simply re-routed the hardline (bent it) a bit to alter the orientation for a nice fit. No issues since. M3 slave & trans.

Gotta use ZF slave. If you compare the E30 and E36 slaves side by side the E36 slave protrudes into the bellhousing a good bit.

careful that you get all the pieces from the over extended slave cyl out of the bellhousing if they came apart. that happened to me and they shot out of the bellhousing and blew a huge hole

I went through two ZF slaves last time. My problem was that everything wasn't perfectly aligned.

I see no other solution than just yank it all back out. :weak:
