Wow. Most complicated M50 swap ever.
Why did you decide to push the engine a foot back?

i respect the amount of work and fabrication, but have to ask why...

sure, i get that putting the weight more evenly over all 4 wheels will increase handling, but i cant see a foot being worth that much work....

Getting that big lump back a foot WILL make a huge difference, its not so much about getting more weight to the rears but more importantly removing weight from ahead of the front wheel centerline.
Removing/relocating weight from outside the wheelbase has more effect than inside the wheelbase so I say good job.

Are you moving the seat, controls etc back as far as possible to match?.

I won a canadian national autox title in a rented corolla race car that had the engine back about a foot, the seat was back further than that and a custom shifter linkage as you wouldn't have been able to reach it.The car turned and put power down very well for a live axle car.

A foot is a lot when we're talking that much weight. Especially when we're moving it in behind the front axle.

This build is pretty crazy, but most classes probably don't allow for such major modification (I think). What type of racing events are you planning on attending?

why not just relocate ancilleries to rear of car and power them off the rear axels? i.e.:

                  alternator
                  power steering

then fit e36 front x member and run native rear sump? delete both sway bars or add the front e36 unit.

that should be a decent amount of weight and much easier to do than shift firewall.

some e36's come from the factory more weight % rear than front
                  OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

                  Euro e46 2005/6 320d 6mt gearbox into E30 with M20 hardy and beck 1985 327s engine
