    Swapped cam sensors, no dice. Apparently you cannot OHM the VANOS crank sensors.

    SO. back to square one :( I still STUMPED. Sigh.

      The backfiring thing is what gets me.

      You tried the "brake cleaner" test yet?

      Not spraying carb cleaner around the engine but rather have someone spray some carb cleaner, WD40, or brake cleaner directly into the intake while you crank the engine.

      If it fires up for a second you have fuel delivery problems.

        99% sure its getting fuel, but I will go try that now. I have tried about everything else there is to try LOL

            It sounds like the problem i was having. Turned out I didnt align the Crank wheel on the alignment pin so it was off causing backfiring and sputtering but no start.

              One of my buddies that was helping me grabbed the NON-Vanos crank pulley / trigger wheel. Which is way, way different from the S50 wheel.

              *facepalm*

              Swapped it over... runs like a boss!

                  Apparently the timing being like 70 degrees off is an issue... LOL!!! Not his fault, he is a DSM guy and a great wrench, just had no idea there was a difference.
