starting my m50 swap, have a few questions.

i have a 90 325is i bought for this swap, i also have an 86 325es im daily driving right now, i bought an m50tu out of a 95 325i, it came fully dressed with all accessories and wiring harness, heres the first question, it came out of an Auto car, my car is a manual, ive done some research and cant really find out if i can still use my harness, and what mods are req'd to it if any.
second i plan on slotting the firewall to slide the booster over, does anyone know if you still need to shave the fins on the intake mani for this to clear? and third, im using my stock tranny i know my 86 has a getrag 260 but what came in the 90 325is that im putting my swap into. i have the starter tranny clutch and flywheel, i also have an m50 starter, i am confused on the starter config. some say m50 housing with m20 gear, some say just use the m20 starter... what works best i have the means to do whichever im just trying to figure out the most compatable way to get this thing in and running

so much conflicting information.. since ive searched and saw that you dont need to shave fins when slotting the firewall with stock booster. as far as the starter question, from what i see both work im just asking for preference on which is more reliable and a better fit. and i really cant find shit on the auto harness and if it can be used

from what I have read, the auto harness will work fine.....you will just have an extra set of wires that seem to go to nothing.....mine was associated with the O2 sensor in the wiring harness..just delete that set of wires and all is golden!

You can use the Auto harness just fine. You'll just have a few extra connections to ignore or remove form the harness in the end. If you slide the booster over (which IS kinda tricky) then you probably wont have to shave fins. But if you DO have to shave fins off the intake it wont be much and there is about a half inch of excess plastic you have to work with so no worries, its not a big deal. For starter: use the appropriate / matching one to your flywheel. SO if you're using an e36 flywheel, then use the e36 starter. IF you're using the e30 flywheel... use the e30 starter. Follow the DOHC 24v e30 wiki guide for any other questions / things to sort like drive-shaft, etc.
