    my DME fried, m50 swap

ok so my ecu fried, watter got into it and cooked it
I got another one from a shop, he said he "put in a ews chip from a 95 car",
where as the m50tub25 DME's thru 94 did not have EWS II

the final bouch numbers on both are 413

    my current results

in the new DME, I out my dinan chip in and it does not show a check engine light, but then it does supply power to the fuel pump (both hearing it prime and feeling the relay clicking on)

New DME with chip it came with it DOES show a check engine light with key on, BUT no power to the fuel pump

    any ideas at all?
is there a EWS chip that can be switched over?
or is it the orignal chip? (where as I have a dinan)

would there be any other chips I can swap over from the first DME

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question but would be interested in buying your dead DME when you are up and running if you are interested, PM me if so.

is your old DME a red (No EWS) or Silver (EWS)

EWS delete is a function of the chip, and the DME that houses it. If you put a non-EWS chip into an EWS dme it will not function.

This is one case where the DME and chip must match, or problems will ensue.

both are red (by red you mean the sticker)
BUT the shop put a EWS chip into the new one

would that cause it not to work properly?

its a good possibility that the EWS chip would not work right in a non EWS DME. your old chip may have been fried with the DME, so it is suspect as well. I would try to source another chip, or compete untampered with DME (even to test)
