i have not tried a vacuum gauge, i might give that a go tomorrow...
Banging, running like shit!!

yeah, thats exactly what i thought it was, ripped the oil pan off and reinfoced the oil pickup, i also added the e36 windage tray to insure no striking.
ive got all 3 different FPR's. the 328 electronic one, the 528 obd2 with mounted fpr. and the obd1 fuel rail. All produce the same resultsComment

highly doubtful but could it be possible that harness for the plugs are backwards??? ie front 3 plug leads are really going to the back 3?'87 325ic, powered by S50.Comment

i dont think that is even possible.. its all enclosed in plastic and the wires exit through the only hole there is...Comment

I hope you get this solved, you've helped a lot in my threads with wiring and stuff. Good luck, wish I could help!Comment

If you don't verify the spray pattern, we are just speculating. Please pull rail and pulse injectors to ensure they are operating as they should. It's obvious where the issue is (what cyl bank) but it sounds like ignition timing or injector timing. If you lengthened or shortened the injector harness you may have affected the pulse timing. What's your exhaust setup also.yeah, thats exactly what i thought it was, ripped the oil pan off and reinfoced the oil pickup, i also added the e36 windage tray to insure no striking.

injectors are pulsing properly.. I loose fuel pressure after a few, so i cant do all 6 in a row... but i did check them all in between resetting the ignition.

If you have then hooked up and crank teh engine it will tell you whats up, what you are doing individually pulsing each one multiple times only says it's cycling, not verify it's cycling in proper time, or during the operation if fuel pressure, distribution, and atomization is occurring.injectors are pulsing properly.. Again, have you altered the length on the injector harness? :???::nice:Originally posted by 325Projectzdon't listen to the diagram... listen to mr. swiss.Comment

Sorry to hear, does not sounds good.
Metallic banging noise is metallic banging noise, that typically means a bad engine.
Have you rotated the engine by hand to get a feel for the crank and rods?
Checked all the valves to make sure they are following the cam lobes and not seized and bent in the head smacking the pistons, backfiring through the intake?
How about a compression test?
Best of luck, but used engines are always a gamble.
Good Luck with it.Comment

no i never altered the harness between the DME and the coil/ injector harnesses... I did remove all the ASC and EGS systems out of the harness though.... but im running out of options here...
the noise does not occur when just cranking. I pulled the valve cover off, carefully examined it and watched it while i cranked the car over, everything was smooth and sounded normal. All 6 pistons go up and down and look clean from what i can see in the spark plug holeSorry to hear, does not sounds good.
